On this week’s Modern Love podcast, the singer and songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter (“The Things That We Are Made Of,” “Come On Come On”) reads the essay “The Race Grows Sweeter Near Its Final Lap,” about the challenges — and advantages — of love that blooms later in life. The essay inspired the final episode of Amazon Prime Video’s “Modern Love” streaming series, starring Jane Alexander and James Saito.
The essay was written by Eve Pell, a journalist and world-class senior runner living in Mill Valley, Calif. She is the author of the memoir, “Love, Again.”
Ms. Carpenter is on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Stay tuned after the reading to hear more from her, the Modern Love editor Daniel Jones and Ms. Pell.
