She wrote: ‘A year ago yesterday was the day my life really started. I made a decision to change for the better and i feel so grateful and lucky to have had a second chance.’

The Tatler star, who turned 21 in June, said it felt like she was having a ‘second birthday’. Her friends made sure to make the day special by organising for a cake with sparklers to be brought out during their lunch by the sea.

Lady Lola has seen first hand the dangers of a life of excess. She was a close friend of IIa Scheckter, daughter of former F1 champion Jody Scheckter, who died of a ‘suspected accidental overdose’ last year after losing her battle with addiction.

Lady Lola has shared her sobriety journey with her 11,400 Instagram followers.

In January she marked six months with a post saying: ‘Six months sober #grateful.’ In the photo she is seen holding up a ‘clean and serene’ keyring.

The aristocrat also spearheads Eternity, an initiative created to bring attention to suicide, addiction and mental health related issues and to break stigmas surrounding them.

Last month Lady Lola celebrated her birthday with a party at the London studio of her fashion designer mother, Serena Bute.

Lola recently returned to London after spending a month in lockdown on the Isle of Bute with friends including Vogue cover girl Adwoa Aboah, 27, and Ruby Boglione, the youngest daughter of Petersham Nurseries founders Gael and Francesco.

It is thought the group stayed at a holiday cottage on the island, rather than the family’s ancestral seat, Mount Stuart Manor House, which is home to Lola’s parents.

Mount Stuart Manor House has been home to the Marquess of Bute since the 1870s, replacing an earlier house by Alexander McGill, which was built in 1719.

The property, which is partly open to the public, boasts a famous colonnaded Marble Hall and crystal-studded vaulted ceilings.

In 2007 the Marquess of Bute sold his other family home, Dumfries House, to Prince Charles for £45million.
