If there’s two things a good beauty blogger can’t live without in 2018, it’s matte foundation and internet drama! All of the drama! The latest mess involves James Charles and his so-thirsty-he’s-legit-dehydrated lust for Shawn Mendes. Charles is known to post sexual comments, which often include some variation of “daddy,” on celebrities’ Instagram photos—and Mendes in particular gets a lot of the love. (Charles’s fans tend to like the comments, which are also probably a shady way to get more followers and attention.) Mendes might not be, well, loving it though?
In a recent Instagram Live video Mendes recorded, you can see him juggling some yellow balls, while standing in front of the camera staring deeply into all his fans’ eyes.
And sure, he’s probably also reading the comments. At one point, you can see Charles’s name pop up with the comment “can you juggle me like that.” Which is a ballsy move, get it? Shortly afterwards, Mendes abruptly ended the live stream–and folks began speculating (baselessly, let’s be clear) that Charles’s comment had unsettled him. Aggregating gossip on the subject, @PopCrave shared a tweet from someone alleging they heard Mendes criticize the come ons at a secret album listening party. “That dude is always commenting weird shit on my posts,” Mendes allegedly said.
[email protected] reached out to YouTube star @JamesCharles to apologize and deny talking bad about him at his secret album listening party: “Sorry about all this, ive never said i dont like you or that you make me uncomfortable.” pic.twitter.com/3fn4BPT3hC
Charles clearly caught wind of the chatter, and tweeted an apology of sorts. “I’ve been supporting @shawnmendes since vine & am a fan like anyone else, & would never want to make anyone uncomfortable,” he wrote. “I’m upset, embarrassed, and sorry if he felt sexually harassed.”
my comments on friend’s & boy’s content have always been light hearted & in a joking manner. I’ve been supporting @shawnmendes since vine & am a fan like anyone else, & would never want to make anyone uncomfortable. Im upset, embarrassed, and sorry if he felt sexually harassed.?
Even though Mendes doesn’t follow Charles on Instagram or Twitter, he saw Charles’s apology tweet, and sent him a private message–which Charles then made public, because of course. “Sorry about all this, I’ve never said I dont like you or that you make me uncomfortable,” Mendes wrote.

So for now, all is right in the beauty blogger-Shawn Mendes universe! Thank goodness.
