Covid has made my OCD so much worse and now I constantly feel filthy

DEAR DEIDRE: I FEEL like I’m covered in filth all the time, even when I’ve just showered.

I’m a 40-year-old woman, living alone, and I suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety.

I’ve got a very stressful job, which doesn’t allow me to prioritise my health and it’s having an impact on my ability to cope.

I repeatedly shower and wash my hands because I’m convinced I’m contaminated. My skin is now red raw.

Covid has made it much worse, with all the endless hand washing messages.

Daily life is becoming almost impossible and I’m starting to have suicidal thoughts.

I simply can’t carry on like this any more. How can I help myself?
