Harry’s pal praised how he dealt with Diana’s death in moving wedding speech

Prince Harry's oldest friend praised the way the Duke dealt with his mother Princess Diana's death during an emotional speech at the Royal Wedding.

The young prince was just 12 years old when his mum died in a tragic car crash in a tunnel in Paris.

He was on holiday with his brother William, dad Prince Charles and the Queen when he was given the heartbreaking news.

Harry asked his dad if he could go to Paris with him to collect her body , but Charles was determined to shield his children from some of the heartbreak so said no.

At his wedding to Meghan Markle in May last year, Charlie van Straubenzee joined Harry, Meghan , Prince Charles and best man Prince William to make speeches at the Frogmore Cottage celebrations.

The men have known each other since prep school, the private education equivalent to primary school, and Charlie said he was very proud of the way his friend handled the tragedy aged just 12 years old.

A guest told the  Sunday Times  : "He described how awful it had been for Harry to go through everything and how proud all Harry’s friends are of how he has come through it.

"He told Harry how happy his mother would have been that he has found love with Meghan and how excited she would be to see them starting their lives together as a married couple.

"Harry was pretty emotional at that point."
