Since Carrie Symonds married new hubby and Prime Minister Boris Johnson over the Bank Holiday weekend wearing a gorgeous rented Christos Costarellos dress for just £45 a day from My Wardrobe HQ, we can’t stop reminiscing about all the celebrities who have brought down their costs by re-wearing their wedding dresses more than once. You may be shocked by some of these well known faces!
Wedding dresses can be extremely hefty but if you’re not keen on renting a frock for your big day, here’s how these celebrities got their wear out of their gowns…
Who can forget Gwen Stefani’s dip dye ombre Christian Dior gown back in 2002 when she married her now ex husband Gavin Rossdale?
The singer was well ahead of the fashion game sporting ombre styles before it was even a thing. The star wore her dress to both ceremonies (she had two) and was also spotted in an extremely similar strapless version of the dress from Christian Siriano while promoting her fourth studio album You Make It Feel Like Christmas 15 years later.
Next up is Amanda Holden, she wore a beautiful champagne coloured bridal gown from Ellie Saab when she married producer Chris Hughes and opted for the dress again when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said I do.
Last year she shared an Instagram post wearing it while mowing her lawn for entertainment during lockdown – anything for the gram eh?
The Duchess of Cornwall
The Duchess of Cambridge is definitely the royal who is known for recycling many of her outfits, but it was The Duchess of Cornwall who is still the only royal to re-wear her actual wedding dress again.
Camilla wore an elegant white coat and matching scalloped-edged dress by Robinson Valentine for her wedding with Prince Charles in April 2005 at Windsor’s Guildhall. Two years later the Duchess stepped out wearing the exact same outfit when she attended the opening of the Nation Assembly of Wales.
Keira Knightley wore a beautiful Chanel tulle dress to her wedding ceremony in 2013 as she wed musician James Righton.
The pale grey bustier dress was part of Chanel’s spring/summer 2006 collection and it’s known the actress actually already owned her wedding dress and wore it many times after her big day too. Keira has certainly got her wear out of this one!
Serena Williams wore this gorgeous lace number originally at the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscars party. She clearly loved the Alexander McQueen gown so much that she wore it again a year later for her wedding in 2017 to Alexis Ohanian.
Holly Willoughby and her producer hubby Dan Baldwin will be celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary this year, although it feels like it was just yesterday!
The fashionista actually designed her own wedding dress before asking a friend to make it for her – clever girl. The presenter admitted that her dress was dirty after the big day and even ripped in areas but that didn’t stop her from wearing it again to celebrate Meghan Markle and Prince Harry getting married with her sister and mum.
