'TIS the season to indulge – and McDonald's has provided plenty of opportunity to with its 2021 Christmas menu.
Here we break down the calorie content for each of the fast-food giant's festive offerings.
How many calories are in the McDonald's Christmas menu items?
Festive Stack – 694kcal
There are 694kcal in the new Christmas burger – the Festive Stack.
It features two beef patties with red onion relish, white cheese sauce, bacon, crispy onions, red onion, lettuce and cheddar.
And all of that is sandwiched between a glazed brioche-style bun.
But despite its decadent filling, it actually has only fractionally more calories than the McDonald's favourite the Big Mac, which contains 508kcal.
Though if you turn into a meal, you could really be ramping up the calories.
Adding large fries adds 444kcal, while a large classic Coke adds 212kcal.
The burger costs £4.89 on its own, or £6.39 as a meal.
Festive Crispy Chicken – 685kcal
The second burger on this year's Christmas menu is the Festive Crispy Chicken.
One of these contains 685kcal and costs £4.89 – or £6.39 as a meal.
The chicken breast fillet is coated in a crispy covering and smothered in cranberry sauce, alongside sage and onion mayo, bacon, red onion, lettuce and cheddar.
This time, the bun is of the glazed poppy and sesame seed variety.
Cheese Melt Dippers – from 246kcal
If you're just after a snack, a box of the Cheese Melt Dippers could be perfect.
A single serving of four is 246kcal, while a 12-piece sharebox contains 737kcal.
Either way, you're getting a box of delicious-sounding camembert dippers coated in a crispy crumb – for £1.89 or £5.09.
Festive Pie – 302kcal
For those wanting something sweet, the Festive Pie could be right up your street.
At 302kcal, the hot crispy pie filled with mincemeat and custard could be the perfect replacement for a classic mince pie.
It is also a comparative bargain at just £1.19.
Celebrations McFlurry – from 175kcal
Also on the sweet menu is the Celebrations McFlurry, which starts from 175kcal for a mini size and 350kcal for a regular.
The ice cream, swirled with Maltesers clusters, Galaxy chocolate drops, Caramel pieces, Mars Chewy pieces, and Twix biscuits and topped with a milk chocolate sauce, costs 99p and £1.49 respectively.
Choco Fudge Latte – from 182kcal
On top of the food, there are also two new hot drink options available at McDonald's this Christmas.
The first is the Choco Fudge Latte – a large shot of espresso blended with steamed milk and a chocolate fudge flavour syrup, topped with a swirl of cream and a chocolate fudge flavour drizzle.
In a regular cup, there are 182kcal, compared to 226kcal in a large.
These cost £1.79 and £2.09 respectively.
Hot Chocolate Deluxe – 201kcal
If you're not a coffee drinker, opt for the Hot Chocolate Deluxe which comes in at 201kcal.
It is made with a chocolate flavour syrup and comes topped with a swirl of cream and a chocolatey dusting.
Although it appears higher in calories than the Choco Fudge Latte, the £1.39 drink comes in a single larger size.
What are the best Christmas menu picks if you are diet?
While McDonald's is traditionally thought of as a fast-food outlet serving only "junk" – there are actually plenty of options for those wanting something lower in calories.
On top of the obvious salads and fruit bags, Maccies' lovers can also enjoy the festive favourites.
The new hot chocolate offering contains 201kcal – significantly fewer than the Starbucks Fudge Brownie Hot Chocolate which has 364kcal.
If you're ordering a McFlurry, opt for the mini size which has just 175kcal to keep the calories down.
And if you want to go all out with a festive burger, the Crispy Chicken contains slightly fewer calories than the Festive Stack.
Add a small portion of fries, with 237kcal, and Diet Coke, with fewer than 2kcal, to keep the meal under 950kcal.
