Ikea reopening: Ikea is reopening all 22 UK branches – opening date

Ikea will open from May 18, according to reports.

However, the company has yet to confirm this.

Such plans would show the firm is expecting current lockdown rules to come to a end within the next few weeks.

This is because Ikea is not an “essential retailer” and so currently is not allowed to open.

Ikea has been operational online, but this move would mean stores are opening too.

The company has yet to speak out on reopening.

Back in March the company said: “For now, all our stores across the UK and Ireland remain closed.

“We are looking forward to welcoming customers back to our stores and will only do so as the situation allows, in line with government guidance.

“As a responsible company we are making extensive plans, and adopting even further enhanced safety measures, so that when we do reopen, our customers and co-workers feel safe and comfortable in our stores.

“The health and safety of our customers, co-workers and suppliers remains our highest priority.”

Social media users have responded to the claims, including one who joked: “This will be such a relief to the people who are still trapped, trying to find their way out.”

Another said: “I just want Ikea to reopen tbh. I need 100 tea lights.”

“I can’t wait for IKEA to reopen I could be there all day with no problem what so ever AND they have good food and ice cream,” another wrote.

One said: “Both of my favourite wine glasses are now broken. I need Ikea to reopen, I’m buying six more.”
