  • Dominique Elissa, 24, is a full-time model who worked in London for a full year
  • She has now returned to Australia but continues to travel abroad for jobs
  • The beautiful brunette recommends cooking meals at home & going for walks
  • She also packs a resistance band in her suitcase and follows a night routine

A full-time swimwear model who travels for work has shared the five rules she always follows to maintain her svelte figure while on the go.

Dominique Elissa, who is based in Sydney and represented by Chic Management, just moved back from London after a year abroad and continues to fly to exotic island locations to shoot in a bikini.

The 24-year-old said she ‘loves routine’ in her life – something not akin to the modelling lifestyle – but has tried her best to create one around her jet-setting ways, her website reads.

Instead of ordering takeaway she will always request that clients provide a hotel room with a kitchen so she can cook her meals while away from home.

An intolerance to both gluten and dairy makes ordering in difficult so she much prefers to whip up a vegetarian or vegan dish herself.

‘Cooking my own meals allows me to know exactly what I am eating, and it is also a lot more affordable,’ Dominique said.

Whenever she is flying to a new destination she will drink an extra litre of water on the plane to help with both digestion and hydrating her skin.

If it’s going to be difficult to schedule in a gym session on arrival Dominique will use a resistance band – something that easily fits into her suitcase – for a full body workout

What are Dominique’s five travelling rules?

1. Find a hotel room with a kitchen so you can make all of your meals.

2. Pack a resistance bag in your suitcase.

3. Drink an extra litre of water on any flight.

4. Explore a new city by walking around for 30 minutes a day.

5. Have a dedicated night time routine.

Dominique’s tip is to bring a litre bottle on board so you can hold yourself accountable, and finish it before the plane lands.

She aims to do 30 minutes of circuit style exercises before or after work each day depending on how early she is asked to come in for a photoshoot.

Sometimes an easier option, particularly in a new city she may not have seen before, is to go for a leisurely walk.

Finally, at the end of each day, she follows a very particular ‘night time routine’ to ensure her body settles down

‘If you are going to take my advice and cook your own meals it also encourages you to walk to the nearest supermarket. This forces you to get outside and reach your step count goal,’ she said.

Dominique won’t look at her phone for at least 30 minutes before heading to bed because the blue light triggers her mind into ‘awake’ mode.

After shutting down her tech she will lie on her back and put her legs up a wall – which is good for your circulation – and helps her ‘ease built up anxiety’ about sleeping in a new bed.

‘I will write in a journal about my goals and list ten things I am grateful for and then read a book by an author who inspires me,’ she said.
