Mum who gave birth in Covid coma prepares for Christmas after 3 months in ICU

A YOUNG mum who gave birth in a coma after contracting Covid is preparing for Christmas at home after nearly three months in intensive care.

Saskia Lane, 21, was rushed in with breathing difficulties while eight months pregnant.

Doctors safely delivered her daughter Betsy in September but Saskia was kept in an induced coma.

She only met her new baby for the first time three-and-a-half weeks later.

The mum-of-two was allowed to go home last month and is now looking forward to the festivities with Betsy, Eliza, two, and partner Lee Blackman, 23.

Saskia, of Partridge Green, West Sussex, said: “Seeing Betsy for the first time was like giving birth all over again.

"I was so relieved we were finally together and I could finally start a bond with my baby after being separated for so long.

“I remember not wanting to ever let go.
