My ex is fresh out and is stirring up old feelings when he visits our son

DEAR DEIDRE: WHENEVER we spend time together, my ex has this amazing ability to make me feel young again.

We talk about the good old days and he brightens up my day.

I’m 33 and he is 35. We have a 12-year-old son together.

He has only recently come out of prison and he met our son for the first time last year. He comes and visits regularly so he can see his boy and we have made friends again.

I don’t know how I feel about this situation as this is the first time we have spoken for many years. I have a new partner now who is 38.

I have a real connection with my ex, but I know he’s a bad influence on our son. I’m very confused as I’m trying to keep everyone happy.

DEIDRE SAYS: Talking to your ex is making you feel nostalgic. But be wary of allowing yourself to be his friend when you know deep down he’s bad news.

You will always share a bond because of your child but you broke up for a reason.

Ideally, it would be best for your son to know his dad but not if you are anxious about his influence.

Focus your energies on your partner. My support pack Torn Between Two Men? will help you.
