DEAR DEIDRE: THE guy I’m seeing says he loves me to bits, though we’ve been together for just six weeks. I’m scared to commit as he seems needy.
He came to Sunday lunch at my house when I’d invited my sister and family, a couple of close friends and my son, who’s away at university.
I was very busy cooking, serving up and sorting drinks, and my new partner got upset because I left his side for more than an hour.
I am 43, he is 52. He wants us to meet every day.
If I say I’m busy, he hangs around our street saying he just wants to be close by.
It’s getting to me, as I still want to do my own thing sometimes.
DEIDRE SAYS: This guy sounds alarmingly controlling rather than needy. It is likely to get worse the more involved you become.
Say you have realised you are not right for one another. Do not respond to any messages and block him if need be. Keep a diary and call the police if his behaviour persists – or 999 if he threatens you.
