New York Getting Its Own Candy Museum

New York’s first ever candy museum is set to open in 2019.

According to Forbes, the 30,000 square foot museum is the first of three founded by the company Sugar Factory is launching over the next couple of years. It will be candy wonderland located on the corner of 20th and Sixth Avenue in the iconic Limelight Club space.

The Candy Museum, yes that is the official name, will utilize the famous 1983 nightclub’s current layout most playfully. Using the winding staircase in the space will highlight a candy installation. Other fun items museumgoers will encounter include edible candy murals, live art installations by local artists, and musical performances.

Obviously, the primary focus of the museum will be to celebrate those sweet and sour treats, so many of us love.

“We want to spread joy across the nation just like we have with our restaurants. Each museum will be built off the same idea but will also have different elements and rooms that cater to their respective locations,” Charissa Davidovici, Founder of Sugar Factory, when revealing why the company has chosen to do three separate museums across the county. Los Angeles will home of the second museum in 2020.

All the candy will mesmerize visitors to the Candy Museum in New York. They will also be able to experience a significant candy rush in one of the 15 experimental themed candy rooms. Those rooms will feature 500 different types of candy, which is the most extensive selection of candy in the world.

Although the company is keeping a lot of the specifics under wraps until the grand opening, Davidovici has shared some highlights with the press. The Gumdrop room will feature over 20,000 gumdrops. Candy Cane Fashion Show is where guests can dress up as their favorite candy and walk the runway. Candy Café is where candy makers will show the process of making various sweet treats. And to top it all off, there’s a 25-foot Gummy Bear entrance and a 10-foot candy unicorn will be two of the biggest attractions.

There will be so much for visitors to do at the Candy Museum when it opens in 2019. The Sugar Factory has not revealed an opening date yet, but here is hoping it is at the beginning of the year because this museum is a candy lover dream come true!
