Queen Elizabeth and other royals are known for staying quiet amidst scandals concerning their family. Royals are generally not expected to speak to the press, so fans are always dying to know what Queen Elizabeth is thinking whenever something big happens.
The royal family was hit with the Megxit drama last month in which Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry announced they no longer want to be senior royals. While Queen Elizabeth did speak up here and there about her feelings, she has largely remained quiet.
However, for those who have a keen eye, there are reasons to believe that Her Majesty might have quietly shown support for Meghan and Prince Harry in a subtle way.
It was initially believed Queen Elizabeth was upset at Megxit

‘Keeping Norfolk’s feet dry’ is how staff at Wolferton’s Pumping Station describe their work. Today, The Queen opened a newly rebuilt facility 72 years after her father, King George VI, opened the original station on 2nd February 1948. The Station sits within the Sandringham Estate, home to Sandringham House – the private residence of The Queen and the Royal Family. King George VI opened the pumping station shortly after WWII, to enable the surrounding marshland, which sits below sea level, to be drained, dried out and farmed. Her Majesty toured the new station, which has been rebuilt over the past 18 months to create a more environmentally friendly facility to better protect its local wildlife, including nesting birds on the neighbouring marshes.
After Meghan and Prince Harry released the announcement that declared their intentions to step back from the royal family, many onlookers were extremely curious about how other royals reacted to such news.
It was said that Prince William was “blind-sided” and “hurt” by the sudden announcement from his younger brother.
Some news outlets also reported that Queen Elizabeth was upset as well. For example, The Sun alleged that Prince Andrew has been comforting Her Majesty through this trying time, with an insider saying: “Andrew has been talking to her constantly on the phone and has now gone up to stay with her for a few days… He sees a lot of the Queen at Windsor, probably more than any other royal, and he is her rock at the moment.”

Instead of feeding these reports further, Queen Elizabeth decided to a statement to show her support for Meghan and Prince Harry.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,” she said. “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
A few days later, she also released another statement. This time, Her Majesty showed that she understood why they wanted to step back from their current royal role.
“I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life,” Queen Elizabeth said. “I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family. It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”
Queen Elizabeth recently showed more support with something subtle
It seems that the statements are just some of the many ways Queen Elizabeth will be showing support for Meghan and Prince Harry from here on out. She recently opted for what looked to be a more subtle way of giving the couple her blessing.
At a church service in early February, Her Majesty was seen wearing her Canadian sapphire brooch, which was given to her in 2017 by David Johnson, the former Governor General of Canada. The occasion marked Queen Elizabeth’s 65th year as a monarch as well as Canada’s 150th anniversary of the confederation.
This brooch is interpreted by fans as a supporting statement for Meghan and Prince Harry because the couple has been spending a lot of time in Canada. They stayed there during their Christmas vacation, and they have also been setting up a home in Canada following their departure from the royal family.
