Seven supermarket discounts to help with rising grocery bills – and you could save £100 a year | The Sun

SHOPPERS are pulling their purse strings tight due to rising costs.

Inflation hit a 41-year-high of 11.1% in October, and many are on the hunt for money-saving hacks.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has confirmed inflation is now at its highest since 1981 – after economists predicted the figure to be 10.7%.

And that means the cost of a weekly shop has soared – with annual food bills most recently increasing by around £533.

To help households keep down the cost of their weekly groceries, we've rounded up the top supermarket discount codes and offers.

And remember to hunt around for more just in case – you never know what other deals and offers are out there.

The Kids Eat for £1 deal is available all day, every day.

A kids meal comes with a piece of fruit and Tropicana kids orange juice, apple drink, or bottle of water.

The free meal must be from the cafe's kids menu and cannot be used with any other offer.

The deal has no time limit as of just now.

Customers can also get £10 off their first shop online when they spend over £50.

You will also be given an extra £20 off across your next three shops when you sign up for Morrisons latest offers via email.

Sainsbury's is offering "feed your family for a fiver" advice – which helps shoppers find cheap meal deals.

There are handy recipes on the Sainsbury's website you can use to meal prep, plus the length of time each meal takes to cook.

You can easily add the ingredients to your basket by clicking the button at the bottom of the screen, but remember to factor in delivery costs.

Sainsbury's also regularly slashes the price on more than 1,000 of its items.

This is known as the price lock and it takes place online, and in store, every eight weeks.

It's part of the supermarket's pledge to price match Aldi.

Waitrose has returned with its hot drink offer for those who are part of the myWaitrose loyalty scheme – which is free to join.

The scheme grants those who are signed up a free Americano, cappuccino, latte or tea – but you'll need to bring your own cup if you don't want to be charged for that.

You'll need to buy something first at the supermarket, but there's no minimum spend.

Tesco has little-known weekly offers called "Weekly Little Helps" that change each week.

Some lower prices are only available for Clubcard members, but this is usually clearly stated on the Tesco website.

For example, at the moment, Tesco has tubes of salt and vinegar Pringles at £1.65 for Clubcard members, instead of £2.

These deals are available both online and instore, but be aware that online orders carry a delivery charge and a £4 fee if your order comes to under £40.

You can check Tesco's website each week to see what's included.

Tesco introduced Clubcard Prices in 2019 where prices are discounted in store and online for members only.

To find the best discounts, all products included in Clubcard Prices in store will be marked with a promotion label.

Offers will also be highlighted for shoppers buying online.

You can get £8 off your online shop at Iceland if it's your first time – but the minimum spend is £60.

You'll need to use code ICEWEB8OFF at the checkout in order to get it, and it expires on December 2 so make sure you're quick.

Remember delivery costs too – these could vary depending on how far out you live.

But if you spend £55 online, you can still get £7 off with codeICESEVEN – this one doesn't have an expiry date but you still need to be a new online customer.

Lidl has a special middle aisle for top deals of the week – a section you can also find online if you're ordering home.

There are currently some great deals on for Black Friday at the end of the week (November 25).

You can read here for a full list of items in the aisle, but you have until Thursday, November 24 until the deals change again.

The items on offer are up to £100 cheaper right now.

Just remember to only buy something you were wanting in the first place – otherwise you're not saving anything.
