Ever wondered what your barista really thinks of you?
There are subtle ways that coffee shop workers show customers that they’re less than impressed with them.
Daily Star Online spoke to a former Starbucks employee about what it’s like to work for the cafe giant.
And from secret menu confessions, to why they always spell your name wrong, the findings certainly were interesting.
Here are seven things Starbucks employees wish they could say to shoppers but can’t.
1. No, we don’t remember your order
Don’t get grumpy if we forget how many shots of syrup you want in your frappe.
We see hundreds of customers a day and it’s hard to remember all those faces.
Take it as a big compliment if we’ve memorised your order, you’ve obviously made a good impression.
2. Grab fresh food from the back
Food that’s about to go out of date is moved to the front of the fridges.
This helps to prevent food waste, but can mean customers aren’t picking up the freshest sarnies of the bunch.
Reach around to the back to pull out items that have only just come into store.
3. If you’re rude, we’ll spell your name wrong
Ever wondered why we keep getting your easy-to-spell name wrong?
Chances are, we’re not a fan of your behaviour.
Some have also theorised that Starbucks deliberately gets customers’ names wrong as a marketing ploy – but this isn’t the case in my experience.
4. Don’t be afraid to complain
If your order is wrong, tell us.
We’re more than happy to make changes to your drink free of charge.
In some cases, baristas will also give out free vouchers to say sorry.
5. The secret menu does exist
This has been a hot topic of debate for years.
But I can confirm, the secret menu is actually a thing.
Having said this, if you ask for a complicated order when it’s busy in store, we’ll probably tell you it’s a myth.

6. We get free coffees
There are some perks to being a Starbucks barista.
And it would be rude not to indulge in this treat after serving customers all day.
7. No, you can’t use our 30% off staff discount
Cheeky customers have asked and we’ve had to politely decline.
We don’t think our bosses would be very happy if they knew we were mis-using our discounts.
Instead of begging for 30% off, I’d recommend be-friending your barista.
They may then throw in a freebie or extras here and there, so what harm can it do to be cheerful and kind.
