Regardless of whether you rinse or use the best dishwasher products, sometimes caked-on food can still end up on your crockery.
Cutlery is even harder to clean, with the metallic material meaning your forks and knives show every speck of dirt or tarnish.
This hack, however, might just save you a post-dishwasher scrub.
Aussie mum Carolina Mccauley shared her top tip on TikTok, with a video showing how she uses aluminium foil to get results.
In the cutlery tray, place a golf-ball sized ball of tin foin.
Then put everything in and wash on your usual setting with your usual dishwasher tablets.
As mum-of-two Carolina says: ‘This dishwasher hack will leave your silverware sparkling.’

It’s all to do with a chemical reaction that occurs between the aluminium and the ingredients in the dishwasher tablet.
The foil itself doesn’t clean, but as the tablet dissolves it reacts with the metal and works extra hard to shine up your cutlery.
Carolina’s video has now been viewed almost 60,000 times since it was posted, and people are dying to try the trick.
It was speculated in the comments that the baking soda in the tablets is what creates the powerful cleaning effect.
This is true, in that these two components (with water) lift silver sulfide – also known as tarnish – through an electrochemical reaction that’s heightened when the water in the solution is warm.
The science definitely checks out, but more importantly this tip will hopefully save you bags of time and effort sorting out your tableware after a wash.
