Amanda Holden’s rise to become Britain’s highest-paid female showbiz presenter

Amanda Holden has swapped her stilettos and radio DJ headphones for a trusty pair of walking boots and hiking sticks as she takes on the infamously tough Three Peaks challenge.

The 51-year-old presenter is scaling the highest mountains of Wales, England and Scotland (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) in just 24 hours today (October 6).

It will see her climb an exhausting 10,476 feet in that time as she raises money for charity.

The mum-of-two is undertaking the mountain feat for Global's Make Some Noise charity, starting with Snowdon.

One of the charities the Heart Radio presenter is helping raise money for is the baby loss charity Aching Arms, with which she has a tragic personal connection.

Holden lost her son at seven months in 2011 when he was stillborn.

What is Amanda Holden famous for?

Amanda Holden is an actress, TV judge and radio presenter.

She is one of the judges on ITV’s Britain's Got Talent programme, having been with the show since its inception in 2007.

The broadcaster also co-presents Heart Breakfast radio on weekday mornings, alongside Jamie Theakston.

Her debut television appearance was as a contestant on the game show Blind Date in 1991.

She then landed small acting roles on shows including EastEnders and The Grimleys.

But her big break came on BBC1’s Cutting It in 2002, before ITV’s Wild At Heart in 2006.

Her stage credits include playing the title role in the musical stage show Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2004, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Holden, a vegetarian, has fronted various shows for ITV, including This Morning and Give A Pet A Home in 2015.

Amanda became a Sunday Times Bestseller in 2013 when she released her autobiography No Holding Back.

In 2020, she released her debut studio album Songs From My Heart.

How much does Amanda Holden earn?

As a prize for becoming one of the most well-recognised faces on telly, Amanda has snared some huge salaries.

In 2019, The Sun reported that she had signed a £3m deal with Heart to present its breakfast radio show, making her Britain’s best-paid female showbiz host.

She is said to have made £700,000 a series as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

And two years ago there were reports the Everton fan was looking to secure equal footing with fellow judge David Walliams, who was being paid £1.5m per series.

As well as lucrative broadcasting contracts, Holden — who used to be married to comedian Les Dennis, 17 years her senior — has also signed deals with brands including Marks & Spencer, TV shopping network QVC and fashion brand Fenn Wright Manson.

Following her divorce from Dennis, Amanda married TV producer husband Chris Hughes in 2006.

They have two daughters, Alexa (born 2006) and Hollie (born 2012), and live in Surrey, along with having a house in the Cotswolds.
