Caitlyn and Kris Jenner's split seemed very amicable at the start, but a drastic turn of events left the Kardashian's seething with anger.
The former couple claimed they would "always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority" in a joint statement in October 2013.
And when Caitlyn announced to the world that she was transgender in a powerful interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015, step daughter Kim Kardashian was nothing but positive.
"She's beautiful, and I'm so proud that she can just be her authentic self. I guess that's what life is about," gushed the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.
But the happy mood went drastically downhill when some shocking claims were made by Caitlyn in a series of explosive interviews – starting with Vanity Fair.
Tensions were already at an all-time high when Caitlyn released her tell all book, The Secrets Of My Life, revealing intimate details of the "uncomfortable" sex life with Kris.
While their intimacy was always “imbued” with love, Cait, who was called Bruce before her transition, admitted the experience was an awkward one in the April 2017 book.
"My attitude is no different than it was in high school: I'm just not entirely comfortable with it," she wrote.
“I tell Kris about my gender issues before I make love to her. This will always be a subject of dispute between us,” Caitlyn wrote, claiming she kept her female clothes in a locked closet with Kris' permission.
Before Kris, the former Olympian had slept with just two other women – wives Chrystie Crownover and Linda Thompson.
And after her 2015 transition started, she remained decidedly on the fence about whether she would sleep with men, women or both.
The Kardashian family were left fuming, with Kim accusing her step-parent of trying to achieve success at the family's expense.
Asked what the chances were of Kris and Caitlyn ever speaking again, she sniped, "Zero, one, no, two per cent and those are Kendall and Kylie. All fair, I think."
Kim wasn't the only one to react angrily as Kourtney branded Caitlyn's claims "pathetic".
Even Kendall, who had remained close to Caitlyn, was livid, banging the kitchen table in fury on KUWTK.
"She goes around dissing the Kardashians but those are the kids that you raised, if you have a problem with them you raised them," she raged.
"It makes no sense to me that she would go around bashing them for no reason, that's insane."
A prolonged estrangement followed with Kim, Kourtney and Khloe refusing to speak to Caitlyn.
"I really tried hard to improve the relationship and spend a little bit of time, thinking maybe there's something here that I'm not seeing," added Kris.
“I’ve done nothing but open up my home, and my heart, to a person who doesn't give a s***. So, I'm done."
But Caitlyn hit back by claiming the blame laid on the Kardashian side rather than her own.
"It's been a little bit tough over the last couple of years on the Kardashian side," Caitlyn said at a Cambridge University talk in November 2017.
"They don't want me in their lives, they bashed me pretty badly. It's devastating when your kids do that. It really hurt.
"In the book I express some opinions and got shot down. It was not about the Kardashians. They were only mentioned on 20 pages.
"They made it more about them on television. The book was about my life. That's caused a lot of the separation between us."
The feud had reached boiling point, but its origins could be traced back to June 2015.
She was highly praised for her amazing Vanity Fair cover, but the accompanying comments about Kris caused a lot of fury.
"I think in a lot of ways she became less tolerant of me. Then I'd get upset, and the whole relationship kind of fizzled," explained Caitlyn, who accused Kris of making her feel “weak and inferior”.
Cait claimed her ex knew all about her desire to be a woman, something which Kris vehemently denies.
"There wasn't a gender issue, nobody mentioned a gender issue," explained Kris.
However, Caitlyn claimed she was a "solid B cup" when they met after a previous, aborted transition and said she even dressed up in front of Kris.
In an explosive episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians in October 2015, furious Kris was close to tears as she reacted to Caitlyn's claims.
"He can go f*** himself. I honestly wish I never met this man. I mean, just f*** you, Bruce," she yelled down the phone to Kim.
While Kim had been full of praise for Caitlyn before, her opinion began to change.
She said: "All Caitlyn can talk about is that my mum mistreated her and was awful and all these really rude things, when there's no reason to bash my mum."
It was actually younger sister Khloe Kardashian, who had looked to Bruce as a father figure following the death of her own dad Robert from cancer in 2003, that appeared to be most outraged.
"We want to support you and be there for you," Khloe told Caitlyn.
“But, we don't think that that entails you speaking negatively about my mom. In our opinion, you don't even need to mention our mom … let's not drag my mom through the mud."
Amongst Khloe's allegations was that Caitlyn refused to tell them the truth about her new identity and left them to find out through the media.
"We kept asking him, 'Bruce, like what's going on? We're hearing all these rumours?' and he kept telling us one thing but really he knew he was transitioning and wouldn't be honest with us," she told The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"So really we felt like the last to know so that was hard for us, especially me."
Khloe was less measured on the Howard Stern Show, raging, "I don't give a f*** what you want to do – just stop lying to us about things… Just lay it on the table, what are we doing? What's happening? Even then he didn't tell us… we didn't know when he was going to start fully dressing as Caitlyn."
Caitlyn reportedly reacted to her outburst with a slew of angry messages, but Khloe was unapologetic.
"I said, 'You slaughtered my mother and you have the nerve to say, 'What happened to family sticking together?' You jumped that ship as soon as you attacked my mum.'
"… She can tell me to f*** off all she wants. I don't have a relationship with her. I'm done."
After the drama involving Caitlyn's book release, she added fuel to the fire during an appearance on Piers Morgan's Life Stories later that year.
Cait revealed she sent Kim a copy of her book but removed the section about her transition because she didn't "trust" her own family not to leak it to the press.
"No I didn’t tell anybody. Why? It’s none of their business", I didn’t want them to leak it to the press. There was no reason for them to know about it," she argued.
On other occasions she pondered whether her actual transition was the reason why her children stayed away.
It was too much for Khloe, who raged about Caitlyn's comments on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
"I'm the victim, I'm the victim, they don't want to see me'. Oh f*** off and it's not because you're trans. That's not why I'm not talking to you. I'm not talking to you because you're a bad, mean person," she cried.
