Kate Garraway ‘fears what’s around the corner’ for husband Derek Draper

Kate Garraway fears what "could be around the next corner" for husband Derek Draper.

After Derek's battle against the effects of COVID-19 Kate is unsure of what the future will hold.

She said: "It’s difficult, isn’t it? You don’t know what could be around the next corner. I just go to bed at night thinking, ‘OK we’ve got through another day. Let’s see if we can do better tomorrow’.”

The Mirror reported that in tonight's 'Finding Derek' on ITV, Kate says that she has never "feared losing him more".

The Good Morning Britain presenter said: "“I’ve never loved Derek more or feared losing him more.

"And it’s so ironic because he had dedicated his life to mental good health and tackling mental ill health, and he has got a huge challenge that he couldn’t have predicted ahead of him. We all have.”

Despite the huge challenges ahead of her, Kate has not given up the fight.

“What’s the choice? Give up? Leave him just to be lost? I know he wouldn’t do that to me and, of course, that’s not an option.

“I just know there are moments in life where you simply have to crack on. You wouldn’t live with yourself if you didn’t feel you had done all you can.

“And, also, I feel there is definite hope. There’s something to work towards.

“I’m not just flailing around. There’s hope there. It is life, isn’t it? It is life. There are times when you have to fight – and this is not a time to be napping.”
