Monsta X fans miss out on chance to meet band as London VIP tickets are oversold

Monsta X fans have been left furious after a ‘programming error’ led to VIP tickets being oversold, meaning some won’t get a chance to meet the band.

The K-pop idols are set to play London next month at the SSE Arena on 9 July, with Monbebe snapping up tickets for the gig for up to £190.

However, those who bought Ultimate VIP and High Touch Standing tickets were stunned when they were told that only the first 200 people and 500 people respectively to buy the tickets would get to high-five Monsta X at the venue, as promised.

The Ultimate VIP Standing tickets, for £190, promised a floor standing ticket, early entry, an opportunity to high-five the artists, an opportunity to wave goodbye to Monsta X after the show, a choice of a signed CD and signed poster and a custom laminate and lanyard.

Meanwhile, the High Touch Standing tickets included the ticket, the laminate and a chance to high-five Monsta X.

But weeks after buying their tickets, which went on sale on 10 May, fans received emails saying that only 200 VIPs and 500 High Touch ticket-holders would be able to high five Monsta X.

According to one fan, presale tickets did not say ‘opportunity to high-five and wave’, while general sale did.

In emails shared with Metro.co.uk, AXS Guest Services wrote: ‘The first 500 High Touch Standing fans will get the opportunity to hi-five the artists and receive a VIP lanyard.

‘All other High Touch Standing fans will receive an official tour poster, but with no artists’ autograph.’

Another email to an Ultimate VIP read: ‘The first 200 Ultimate VIP Standing fans will gain early entry, get the opportunity to hi-five the artist, the opportunity to wave goodbye to Monsta X, receive the choice of either a signed CD or a signed poster as well as a custom double-sided Ultimate VIP lanyard.

‘All other Ultimate VIP Standing fans will receive an official tour poster, but with no artists’ autograph.’

Monbebe who bought the special tickets took to social media to express their confusion and fury over the situation.

Emails sent out today by Eventim explained that ‘due to a programming error, [the event organiser] unfortunately had to reduce the number of fans who can participate in the Ultimate VIP Standing experience’.

They explained that only the first 200 to buy the tickets would be able to receive the full package, while those who were not in the first 200 will be ‘auto-refunded the difference’ in ticket price and moved to the general admission standing area.

The same process will occur with the first 500 High Touch ticket-holders.

Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney and I.M will bring their tour to the SSE Arena to perform hits including Alligator, Shoot Out, Beautiful and Who Do U Love?

The Korean band last played in London in June 2018, when they sold out the Eventim Apollo.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Eventim, AEG and Monsta X’s reps for comment.
