Rock icon Ozzy Osbourne has spent recent years pretending he is struggling, out of touch and kooky, wife Sharon says.
The feisty music manager claims her husband’s unusual behaviour is simply “a shield.”
Sharon, 67, said Ozzy pretends to appear lost and out of it in public.
She said: “The thing is that a lot of people think he is oblivious to what is going on. And he is not.
“He knows everything and because he puts on this persona of ‘I will make you laugh’, he still knows exactly what is going on.
“And that became a shield of like: ‘I don’t know, what did you just say?’
“But he knows everything.”
However, Ozzy, 71, said that he has always been on edge in life. The Black Sabbath star said he has been a “worrier” since his teens.
Ozzy said: “I am a natural born worrier. I worry all the time.
“I worry about my family, I worry about myself, the world and politics. I just worry.
“It is kind of like a way of life for me now. It is always there at the back of my mind.”
Sharon, inset, said Ozzy is not the excessive, over the top, eccentric rock star that people think he is when he is at home.
She said: “Ozzy is very, very quiet at home. He just does his thing, likes to sit in his art room where he keeps himself to himself.”
The pair spoke during a Sirius XM interview.
Sharon said she and Ozzy had been “oddballs”, who saw their relationship develop from a lustful fling into soulmates.
She added: “You do become co-dependent on each other. You don’t wanna go anywhere without each other or do anything without each other.
“The thought of not being with him is just unthinkable.”
