The star took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to her beloved pooch, writing: “My heart is broken. My soulmate Lola. Cannot cope with losing you, not now.”

Samantha accompanied the heartfelt caption with a series of adorable snaps of her holding the pup in her arms as the pair headed out on hikes and snuggled up at home.

One adorable snap even showed Samantha cross-legged on the top of a minivan while Lola cuddled up in a blanket inside the vehicle, putting the world to rights.

Her fans and friends chimed in to sympathise with her loss, with EastEnders ’ Charlie Brooks writing: “Oh Sam… I’m so sorry darling. Sending you so much love.”

Denise Van Outen added: “I’m so sorry to hear this. Thinking of you.”

Coleen Nolan added a love heart emoji, as Rita Simons told Sam: “Love you.”

“I just can’t. So heart wrenchingly sad. Oh Lola. Oh Sammy,” someone else paid tribute, as another fan wrote: “Honey, I’m so sorry. With what passion do we love our fur babies.”

It comes after Samantha confirmed her breast cancer diagnosis last month, paying tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

She told her followers alongside a snap of both actors together: “This was the most magical of evenings. Olivia and Chloe had come to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards. I was so excited and in awe, she was my childhood.

Samantha has since undergone surgery for the cancer, posting an update to her fans three weeks ago which showed her eating a bowl of soup alongside another of her pups.

She wrote: “Recuperating after breast cancer op.

“My love makes me turmeric and ginger in the morning and homemade butternut squash soup in the evening… feeling loved and grateful.”
