Selena Gomez slammed body shammers on social media who were attacking the way her body looked in a bikini.
Instead of being able to enjoy her vacation in Sydney, Australia, the singer had to take to social media to take on the trolls and the haters. After photos of Gomez in a bikini on a boat surfaced, she became the target of some serious online body shamming and she is not here for it. She used Instagram to spread a message about health and taking care of yourself.
“The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self-consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails,” shared Gomez.
Her caption also included a video of the singer enjoying her vacation set to the song “Dream Tonite” by the Indie group Alvvays.
The photos that caused such body shaming against the 25-year-old featured her in an orange bikini top and black bikini bottoms. Her kidney transplant scar can be seen, but trolls couldn’t stop commenting on her weight. Not that she looks bad but the trolls still called her thicker and pregnant.
However, Gomez is not letting the body shammers get her down, and seriously, after everything she has been through in the past year, why would she? After all, if she can survive a kidney transplant, taking on haters in a positive way is no big deal.
Last November, the former Disney star shared with the Today Show how the transplant changed her body.

“I have a bit of an obtrusion that will be there forever. And that means I’m going to have to dress differently. It was really, really massive at first. I ended up having to get it drained, initially to reduce the size,” Gomez shared.
Selena Gomez is not here for the body shammers who have been trolling her. She is focused on being healthy and she made that clear in a social media post addressing the issues.
