The Wanted’s Tom Parker asks fans to ‘say prayer’ as he updates on cancer battle

The Wanted singer Tom Parker asked fans on Instagram to "light a candle and pray for me" amid his cancer battle.

The 33-year-old was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2020 and was given a life expectancy of 12 to 18 months.

He'd shared an affirmation on Instagram that included the line: "May my body return to health and completely free from disease."

In the heartfelt post, the father-of-two shared a picture of him smiling at his wife Kelsey Hardwick as the sunlight shone on them, accompanied by some aspirational words.

He explained to his 267,000 followers how the date February 2, 2022, was "a powerful day to manifest" and heal.

Tom's lengthy forward-looking caption started with: "Calling all my amazing followers [multiple star emojis]."

It continued: "I would love for you all to get involved tonight and light a candle and say a prayer for me.

"It's a new moon and supreme number 02.02.22 [star emoji] it's a powerful day to manifest with the universe.

"So let's all heal together."

Tom was diagnosed in 2020 with grade four glioblastoma and was told he had a life expectancy of 12 to 18 months.

He's updated his fans and said his condition has improved after six rounds of chemotherapy and 30 radiotherapy sessions.

In his recent caption, the Glad You Came singer said: "I would love everyone to light a candle and say this out loud."

The star shared a lengthy verse from a positive affirmation quote by a holistic spiritualist.

Some lines extracted from the verse read "may I be strong", "may my body return to health and completely free from disease" and "I call on angels, guides and ancestors to help support me in this healing journey and please awaken my heart and mind to give me the power, strength and healing that I need on this journey to complete health".

Many fans and supportive friends have commented on the uplifting post.

Singer Laura White said: "Will light my candle tonight Tommy and do it with you."

Another penned: "Been praying for you and your lovely family every night since the diagnosis."

In his TV documentary Inside My Head, Tom expressed a goal to be cancer-free by March.
