The Only Way Is Essex cast member Liam Gatsby has revealed he's undergone a "life-changing" operation and remains in hospital.
Posting to Instagram on Thursday (May 5), the 33-year-old musician confirmed he had undergone surgery after suffering from a hiatus hernia.
Liam shared two photos of himself recovering from the stomach operation at The Holly Private Hospital in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
In a caption alongside the post, Liam revealed he had flown back from visiting his mother Nikki in LA to have the surgery, with Nikki also returning to Essex to look after him.
The reality star now faces a two-month recovery period.
To his 483,000 followers, Liam wrote: "I would have still been in LA but the reason I came home was to have surgery.
"I’ve been suffering with a hiatus hernia & acid reflux for a few years now but it got to the point where I couldn't eat food & drink liquids at the same time without it coming back up.
"Imagine eating a meal & being thirsty and not being able to drink a glass of water with it or the food you've just eaten will come back up.
"Also, the burning taste of acid in your mouth most mornings."
Liam later confirmed he would be on a liquid-and-soft-foods-only diet for six weeks post-op.
He added: "This surgery repairing my stomach & hiatal hernia will hopefully be life-changing for me.
"Not looking forward to the next 6 weeks on a liquid / soft food diet so any tips from people who have had this surgery it would be much appreciated."
Liam is expected to spend three days recovering from the operation in the hospital.
The surgery could lead the star to miss out on filming the next series of TOWIE as the ITVBe show resumes production after a lengthy break.
Alongside returning cast members Chloe Meadows and Courtney Green, the cast will film scenes in the Dominican Republic before returning to Brentwood.
Last year, Liam split from his former TOWIE girlfriend Dani Imbert.
