Anantara Kihavah resort in the Maldives is named the world's most Instagrammable hotel
Anantara Kihavah in the Maldives has just been named the most Instagrammable hotel in the world.
The award, handed out by Luxury Travel Advisor, was voted for more than 120,000 times – with Anantara Kihavah taking almost half of those.
Located in the Maldives’ Baa Atoll archipelago, the 80-villa resort beat Ritz-Carlton hotel Mandapa in Bali, Indonesia, as well as Hotel Matilda and Viceroy Los Cabos, both in Mexico.
The villas range between 260 to 2,730 and square metres in size, with bathtubs that overlook the private pools, which in turn look out across the ocean.
The sea here is within a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, home to coral reefs, turtles, eels and tropical fish.
The photo opportunities don’t stop at the villas though.
The resort also has an award-winning underwater restaurant and what they claim is the world’s first underwater wine cellar.
In a somewhat bizarre experience, guests can feast on fish and seafood while also watching it swimming past the table.
Last year, the most Instagrammed hotel in terms of the volume of pictures was the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, followed by the Bellagio and The Venetian, both in Las Vegas.
