A HUGE new water park with a surf pool, spa and 250m beach is to open in Southport in Lancashire.
The £40m project called Southport Cove Resort will be open all year round, with a number of indoor and outdoor experiences.
The project will include a surf pool which will use technology to create waves ranging from 2m to 50cm for both beginners and experienced surfers.
A 250m sandy beach will also be created along with a 360-degree boardwalk and gardens.
Located on the Southport seafront, other facilities will include a spa centre, restaurants and cafes and an indoor leisure centre although more if yet to be revealed about what they could include.
Four-star accommodation will also be included so you can easily spend a long weekend exploring the new complex.
The project has been put forward by Go Surf who have teamed up with Sefton Council, although an opening date is yet to be confirmed.
A Go Surf spokesman said: "We’re taking a world class surf pool and building a resort around it that’s far more than just a place for catching waves, something that all visitors and members can enjoy on any given day of the year.
"Our aim is to create a perfect environment where people meet with friends and family, be it to lounge on the beach or in the gardens, catch some waves, relax in the spa, or just grab a coffee and a bite to eat."
It also hopes to create up to 120 new jobs and bring in more than £20 million per annum to the local economy with an expected 150,000 visitors a year.
Another indoor water park and spa is coming to Manchester, with water slides, pools, wellness areas and even swim up bars.
Plans for Therme Manchester have been confirmed by the Trafford Council in Manchester for the £250m resort to be built by 2023.
A £75m water park inspired by Indiana Jones could be coming to Bournemouth too – the Elysium Waterpark would be the largest in the UK, stretching 75 acres across Poole and the New Forest.
