Charles ‘infuriated’ Harry with news he would not pay for Meghan, book claims

King Charles told Prince Harry he was unable to pay for Meghan Markle when told of his plans to marry her, according to a new book about the Royal Family.

Harry had been hoping for a positive reaction to the announcement when he decided to marry American actress Meghan back in 2017.

However, he was allegedly left "infuriated" after his father and brother expressed their concerns.

The revelations come from Robert Jobson's new book Our King: Charles III — The Man And The Monarch Revealed, which is being serialised in the Daily Mail.

Prince William is thought to have immediately reacted to Harry by asking: "Are you sure, Harold?" To which Harry confirmed he was.

Meanwhile, Charles is said to have jumped to the financial side of things, saying that he couldn’t afford to pay for Meghan in addition to the family members he already supports.

The news that Meghan would not receive the same financial treatment as others in the family soured relationships further between family members, according to Jobson.

“In truth, by the time his grandmother died, Harry had precious few supporters left in the family. Even the Queen, who had always had great affection for him, eventually tired of his outbursts,” writes Jobson.

A source confirmed that: "Her Majesty found Prince Harry’s calls quite difficult and wearisome. She didn’t want to interfere in the father/son relationship and would urge him to speak to his father."

According to Jobson, Harry allegedly repeatedly asked for funds to the point where Charles stopped taking his son’s calls.

In their Netflix documentary, Harry had said that money was needed to provide security to his family, which had been taken away since taking a step back from royal duties.

Without security, he admitted he’d been left "terrified" for Meghan, particularly due to the circumstances surrounding his mother’s death.
