Cinema to offer free screenings of popular old musicals to dementia sufferers and their carers

FREE cinema screenings of old musicals are being offered to dementia sufferers and their carers.

The shows will have no adverts and viewers will be allowed to dance and sing along. They will also get free tea and biscuits.

The move is part of the cinema's commitment to working with the Croydon Dementia Action Alliance, which is supporting the south London borough to be dementia friendly.

The initiative, at the David Lean Cinema in Croydon, South London, begins with Elvis Presley’s Viva Las Vegas (1964).

Manager David Lavelli said: “Everyone should be able to enjoy the cinema.”
