Citi Field will offer drive-thru COVID-19 vaccinations starting Thursday

Drive-thru COVID-19 vaccinations will soon be offered at the mass inoculation site at Citi Field, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday.

Starting Thursday, New Yorkers in cars can drive up to the Queens home of the Mets and get jabbed. Appointments will be required.

“This is in addition to the vaccine site at Citi Field itself,” de Blasio said during his City Hall press briefing.

Since Citi Field opened as an immunization site in February, more than 100,000 doses have been administered there, Hizzoner noted.

“Now we’re going to make it easy for folks to come on over get a shot and keep moving,” de Blasio said, adding, “So what a great place to get vaccinated to help protect yourself, your family and your whole city.”

Additionally, de Blasio announced “another incentive” to get people vaccinated against the coronavirus – a free two-week membership to Citi Bike.

“That is a really good deal if you have not gotten vaccinated yet,” de Blasio said. “We’re going to encourage vaccination in all sorts of new ways.”

To date, New York City has administered more than 7.1 million vaccine shots. About 3.8 million Big Apple residents have received at least one dose, data shows.
