Denver man, 34, faces first-degree murder charge in June shooting off East Colfax

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann filed a murder charge Thursay against 34-year-old Dwan West, who is accused of shooting and killing a man off of East Colfax last month, her office said in a release.

West reportedly pulled out a gun and began shooting near a food truck in the 1500 block of Valentina Street on June 18, the release said. During the outburst, West reportedly shot an acquaintance of his, 49-year-old Asian Fair.

Emergency responders took Fair to Denver Health, medical center where he died about three weeks later from his injuries, the release said.

West faces felony counts of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, illegal discharge of a firearm and six counts of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, the release said.
