El Chapo’s daughter marries fellow drug lord’s nephew in lavish ceremony

El Chapo's daughter has tied the knot with the nephew of another drug lord in the Mexican heartland of her father's power base.

Alejandrina Gisselle Guzman, whose father is the notorious jailed drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, married Edgar Cazares, nephew of cartel boss Blanca Margarita Cazares.

The two offspring of major drug lord families were wed in a lavish ceremony held in the cathedral of Culiacan, the state capital of Sinaloa, where El Chapo's empire was based.

Mexican newspaper Reforma reported that the wedding took place on January 25, and featured performances by popular Mexican bands and singers as well as fireworks.

Yellow tape was placed around the cathedral to prevent members of the public or potential threats from getting too close.
