This is the horrifying moment a little girl escaped death by inches when a speeding van crashed into a bridge in India.

The CCTV footage was captured in Srinagar, the largest city of the Jammu and Kashmir region, on April 23 during the middle of the day.

The video shows a group of women chatting away and standing on a bridge while a young girl plays.

The traffic on a nearby road appears to be busy, with the sound of cars honking their horns. 

Seconds later, a white van steers off the road and towards the bridge.

It misses the little girl by inches as it speeds across the edge of the bridge and smashes through a metal fence, before falling into the river below.

The driver and his passenger miraculously escaped unharmed after the van fell into the river below.

The young girl was said to have been shaken up by the incident.
