Police have responded to reports of a shooting at Southpoint Mall on Friday afternoon

Some people posted on social media about sheltering in place.

"I’m currently locked in a store with other shoppers due to a lockdown situation in Streets at Southpoint Mall in #Durham," one local reporter wrote of the current situation.

Adding: "We’re waiting to hear from security what prompted this situation. While shopping, I saw many people running."

Another person shared a video online of people running out of a Nordstrom.

"We were about to go into Southpoint Mall when people started running out," the person who shared the video wrote.

A third posted appeared to post from inside the mall on Twitter.

"All stores are on lockdown and asking people to shelter in place at the moment," they said.

Cops have yet to confirm the shooting at Southpoint Mall.
