A MAN has been charged after two best friends were killed in a tragic Christmas crash.
Lifelong pals Ellie Crossley and Rebecca Doughty, both 20, had been driving home near Mollington, Chester after shopping for gifts for loved ones.
Tragically Rebecca and Ellie's silver Citroen collided with a blue BMW on the A5117 in Dunkirk, killing them both.
The horror unfolded on November 25, 2021 – just one month before Christmas.
The girls' families paid tribute to them in the days that followed the smash, saying they were "truly devastated" and would "sadly miss them".
The loved ones added: "Close friends for their short lives, they will be in our hearts forever."

Benjamin Lewis, of West Vale, Neston, was arrested two days before Christmas in 2021.
Now, more than a year and a half on, Lewis has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 30-year-old will appear in court next month.
Cheshire Constabulary today said: "Officers investigating a fatal collision in Dunkirk have charged a man in connection with the incident.

"Benjamin Lewis, of West Vale, Neston, was arrested on 23 December 2021 following a fatal collision on the A5117, near to the junction of the M56.
"The 30-year-old has since been issued with a postal summons to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday 8 September, where he will be charged with two counts of death by dangerous driving.
"The charges relate to a collision which occurred on 25 November 2021, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Ellie Crossley and 20-year-old Rebecca Doughty from the Flintshire area."
