It’s unclear exactly what the man was doing back there or how he got into the pipe.

Fire officials were seen draining the back pool area early Monday and said the man was about four feet down. Crews were seen dismantling the pipes to get the man out.

The facility has a lap pool, water slides, and a play gym.

It’s unknown whether the individual is a worker or someone else at the park.

Around 12.30am, a Scottsdale police officer was making rounds in the area when he heard what sounded like muffled calls for help.

The officer found the voice coming from a pipe that helps support one of the water slides and officers were able to communicate with the victim – a 32-year-old man said to be a transient – but they lost communication with him around 2am.

Officers say the person reported went over a tall fence and was up on the slide when he somehwe got into the pipe structure and was stuck.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will determine how the man died.

The incident is under investigation and the Aquatic Centers is closed.
