Murder probe launched after man, 59, attacked & killed in park – as forensic cops search playground & teen, 18, arrested | The Sun

A MURDER probe has been launched after a 59-year-old man was attacked and killed in a park this morning.

The man could be heard calling for help before he was found with a head wound, fighting for his life.

Forensic cops could be seen searching the park and playground in the hours that followed, and an 18-year-old was has now been arrested in connection to the alleged murder.

Police launched the murder probe after finding the man fighting for his life in Wood Farm Park, Oxford, not long after 6am.

The man, who was from the area, was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after.

Cops have now arrested and 18-year-old man, also from Oxford, on suspicion of murder.

The teen remains in police custody.

Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit Head of Criminal Justice and senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Craig Kirby, said: “We have launched a murder investigation after a man died this morning.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this most difficult time.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation, which appears to be a targeted attack.

“We have arrested an 18-year-old man from Oxford on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.

“I would ask anyone who may have information about this incident or was in the area at around 6am this morning to please contact us as soon as possible.
