Robbie Williams filmed fleeing huge London hotel fire on outdoor stairwell

Pop star Robbie Williams is understood to be among the hundreds forced to flee the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge as fire took hold.

The Angels singer was seen walking down a fire escape and then along the street away from the fire in an Instagram video shared by a guest.

Robbie, 44, is believed to have been staying at the hotel when the drama broke out.

He was pictured wearing sunglasses and a tracksuit branded with the name of charity Unicef.

Robbie is set to captain one of the teams in Sunday’s Soccer Aid match, which will raise money for Unicef.

Another celebrity at the scene was Australian singer and actress Holly Valance, who tweeted: "This is just terrible #mandarinoriental just minutes ago. Went up in seconds!"

More than 100 firefighters rushed to the blaze in posh Knightsbridge shortly before 4pm.




The 13-storey venue, which in featured Channel 4’s A Very British Hotel, was evacuated and witnesses described fleeing the building and seeing the sky filled with black smoke.

A statement released by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said: “Twenty fire engines and 120 firefighters and officers have been called to a visible fire at a hotel in William Street in Knightsbridge.

“The Brigade’s 999 control officers have taken around 40 calls to the fire, which is producing a lot of smoke."
