A Silverthorne police sergeant has been arrested as a suspect in a Clear Creek County domestic violence case.
Joel Victor Ponedel, 37, of Evergreen, turned himself in to the sheriff’s office on Tuesday, according to a district attorney’s office news release.
In late November, the Silverthorne Police Department was informed of domestic violence allegations involving Ponedel. Police asked the Clear Creek County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the matter leading to the arrest.
Ponedel was arrested on suspicion of stalking and wiretapping, both felonies. He’s also suspected of third-degree assault and harassment, both misdemeanors.
Ponedel is also being investigated for misdemeanor child abuse non injury — not a domestic violence act, according to the release. He has been placed on administrative leave by the police department pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation carried out by an outside entity. His next court date is scheduled on March 1.
