Tropical Storm Isaias 5am update: Isaias batters 415 MILES of Atlantic on path to Bahamas

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has pinpointed eight storms rounding on the US this year. The latest is Isaias, which took shape earlier this week and has since whipped up high winds in the Atlantic. The NOAA’s hurricane wing the National Hurricane Centre (NHC) has issued its latest advisory, in which it has warned several countries they could experience fallout from the storm.

According to the latest NHC forecast bulletin, the storm is moving towards the northwest Atlantic at a speed of roughly 21 mph.

From its current perch, Isaias has whipped up wind speeds of 60mph and more,

Although officials said the storm would not increase today, it would likely do so by Friday.

The full advisory reads: “At 5am AST (9am UTC), the centre of Tropical Storm Isaias was located near latitude 17.2 North, longitude 67.9 West.”

“Isaias is moving toward the northwest near 21 mph (33 km/h), and a west-northwestward to northwestward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days.

“On the forecast track, the centre of Isaias will move over Hispaniola late today and near the southeastern Bahamas by early Friday.

“Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts.

“Little change in strength is anticipated until landfall in the Dominican Republic later today, with re-strengthening forecast on Friday and Saturday.”

“Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 415 miles (665 km) from the centre.

“A Weatherflow station in Yabucoa Tanque de Agua reported sustained winds of 52 mph (83 km/h) with a gust to 59 mph (94 km/h).”

The NHC has issued tropical storm warnings, which advise adverse conditions will emerge in some areas within 36 hours.

They have also issued watches, which mean tropical storm conditions will arrive slightly later, within a 48-hour time frame.
