When will Plan B restrictions come in and will there be another lockdown this Christmas?
THE PM could be announcing new Covid-19 restrictions coming into effect shortly for Christmas.
But when and will it mean another lockdown? Here's what we know.
When will Plan B restrictions come in?
'Plan B' restrictions could come in effective as early as tomorrow if Boris Johnson announces them an up coming press conference scheduled for today, December 8.
Government sources told The Sun that Senior Cabinet Ministers are meeting to confirm the changes that may dash hopes for a normal Christmas.
Under Plan B all but essential workers will be asked to work remotely like they did between March 2020 and last July's Freedom Day.
Vaccine passports – which the Government has been planning to introduce – will also be launched for large venues like football matches and nightclubs.
At the moment the definition of fully-vaccinated is two jabs rather than three.
Mandatory face masks – the third prong of the Government's Plan B – are already in force for shops and public transport after coming in last week to stem the rising tide of Omicron.
This will likely be extended to all "crowded and enclosed settings" to be determined.

Will there be another lockdown this Christmas?
The government has repeatedly said it has no plans for another lockdown.
No single event or set of figures would necessarily trigger stricter measures, but the government said it would monitor hospitalisations, rapid rates of change in figures and the overall state of the NHS.
But just weeks ago, the PM was cited saying that he saw no need to move the UK’s winter “Plan B” – which includes people being made to wear masks indoors and advised to work from home which today he is scheduled to announce that some new restrictions will be coming in.
He said: “We don’t know how this wave will wash up on our shores but history shows we cannot be complacent."
The Netherlands became the first country in western Europe to impose a partial lockdown from Saturday, November 20, 2021, which resulted in violent demonstrations against the Government.
In Austria, the two million unvaccinated citizens were banned from leaving their homes unless for food or work on Monday 22 November.
Similar measures, as well as a ban for use of public transport or entering restaurants and cafes, are expected in Germany within days, with one state already denying entry into non-essential shops for the unjabbed.
What are the current rules for Christmas?
At the moment, there are no restrictions to how many can gather or travel to for Christmas.
Masks must be worn in shops and on public transport but no other tier system or restrictions have been announced as of December 8.
Plan B could see home working and vaccine passports but it's not clear but at the moment it appears Christmas gatherings will be allowed to go ahead.
