In the wake of Madeleine Albright's passing, flags are being raised at a half mast standing as a tribute to the late politician's life.

To commemorate the life of Madeleine Albright, politicians and public officials hoisted up their area's flags halfway.

Joe Biden commented on the former Secretary of State: "Madeleine Albright was a force, she defied convention and broke barriers again and again."

"She was an immigrant fleeing persecution. A refugee in need of safe haven."

Biden added: "And like so many before her — and after — she was proudly American."

President Joe Biden's proclamation requested for flags to remain at half mast until March 27, 2022.

The White House, public buildings, military posts, naval conditions, naval vessels, embassies, and consular offices are to carry out Biden's proclamation.

"In every role, she used her fierce intellect and sharp wit—and often her unmatched collection of pins—to advance America’s national security and promote peace around the world," Biden disclosed of the late Madeleine.

"She spent the rest of her days defending freedom around the world and lifting up those who suffered under repression."

What was Madeleine Albright's cause of death?

On March 23, 2022, Madeleine's family broke the news of the politician's passing through a statement posted on social media.

The statement read: "We are heartbroken to announce that Dr Madeleine K Albright, the 64th US Secretary of State and the first woman to hold that position, passed away earlier today."

"We have lost a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend."

The former Secretary of State's cause of death at 84 years old was revealed to be due to cancer.
