Woman who claimed cannabis oil cured her terminal cancer given all-clear

A woman who believes cannabis oil cured her terminal cancer has been given the all-clear by doctors nearly two years after she was told she only had weeks to live.

Joy Smith was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August 2016 and told she had a life expectancy of six weeks without immediate chemotherapy.

On Monday, doctors told her she was cancer free and would no longer need to have the intense treatment, CoventryLive reported .

The 52-year-old began having chemotherapy every two weeks for three days after her dire diagnosis, but had to have her line taken out after developing sepsis .

She was unaware that her friends had been researching an alternative cure until she was handed a THC cannabis oil tablet by one of them in hospital.

After taking regular doses of the oil, which is currently illegal in the UK, she claimed her inoperable tumours almost completely disappeared.

The West Midlands woman said she hadn’t stopped smiling since being told she was cancer-free.

"I am going to party for the rest of my life. I have got to be the only person in the world to have survived this," she said.

"I keep pinching myself to see if this is real.

"I am being monitored every three months, but other than that I have no more treatment planned.

"I have to thank all the nurses and the doctors at UHCW, they’ve been amazing and especially, Dr Sohgi.

"They have been the best for me, even though I have defied all their science."

Since she told her incredible story back in March, Joy said she was recognised everywhere she went.

Joy said she has received thousands of messages from fellow sufferers desperate to know more about her miracle cure, which she says has left doctors stunned.

Joy said: "I am just so happy. This is all down to the cannabis oil. I shouldn’t be here, but I am.

"My daughter is in Australia at the minute and when I told her she thought I was lying.

"Everyone around me has been amazing, I have an army behind me and they’re all so happy."

The oil is not available legally in the UK but can be sourced online.

Joy said the people contacting her are desperate to know how to get hold of it themselves.

Although Joy can’t supply the oil herself, she tries to help in other ways.

She is writing a book about her journey so far and is determined to get it legalised.

Joy said: "I have got to get it legalised. I am so happy, happier than I have ever been.

"I just keep sharing the petition and hope it will make a difference.

"I believe my reason for being here is to help everyone else. Unless you have been faced with death you don’t know."

Joy is now looking forward to her life going back to normal.

She said she will have her hair grow back after the long period of treatment.

Joy said: "I haven’t had chemo for eight weeks, and four weeks ago was my last cancer treatment.

"I will have hair growing back, my nails will be strong. It just hasn’t sunk in yet."
