A New Jersey woman who relied on an electric-powered oxygen tank to breathe died just hours after her utility company cut service to her home because she hadn’t paid her bills.
Linda Daniels, 68, died of heart failure Thursday, hours after PSE&G turned off the power to her Newark home, according to her daughter, Desiree Washington.
PSE&G told The Associated Press that it cut the power off due to a lack of payments over the course of several months. The company said it was unaware of Daniels’ medical condition and that it is reviewing its records.
Washington said her mom paid $500 to the electric company just two days before her death and that her family had notified the electric company of her mother’s medical issues.
The Newark Police Department is investigating the incident, according to the AP.
