AMERICANS will be able to request another stimulus check if the payment was lost, stolen, or destroyed, it has been revealed.
Today a third stimulus check will reach millions of U.S citizens after weeks of waiting for a relief payment.
You can check the status of your third payment by using the free IRS tracking too – Get My Payment.
However, if you suspect that your check was lost, stolen, or destroyed you can request a replacement.
You can do this by requesting a Payment Trace in the Get My Payment portal.
If it is your first or second stimulus check that has gone missing you can no longer use the portal to track it down.
Instead you will have to create a new free account with the IRS.
You can also request a payment through an EIP Card, a prepaid debit card that the US Treasury has been using to distribute stimulus payments.
So far the IRS has sent out over 90million EIP Cards in the third round of payments.
If you have yet to receive a direct deposit then your payment may arrive by mail "in the coming weeks".
The IRS confirmed the payments on Twitter meaning an estimated 30million Americans could receive their check today.
They will now be sent out on a weekly basis to those who may be eligible for larger Economic Impact Payments based on their tax returns from 2020 and 2019, which the IRS is currently still processing.
The "plus-up" will apply to people whose initial stimulus checks received in March were based upon 2019 tax returns rather than the recently filed 2020 tax returns.
The processing of the payments began on March 26.
Some Americans were still anticipating their payments from the first two batches because the IRS said they were lacking the information required to issue a payment.
