I won\u2019t be able to make it there in time,\u201d Samantha said after trying to fly from Heathrow Airport in London to New York to surprise her pal. \u201cWell, it is your apartment and I have to pay my respects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Samantha subsequently asked to be put on speakerphone so she could properly say goodbye to Carrie\u2019s place. \u201cThank you for everything you f\u2014king fabulous, fabulous flat,\u201d Samantha added before wrapping up her call with Carrie. \u201cTa and cheerio! And have a great night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/us-weekly\/assets\/img\/placeholders\/default-usweekly.svg\" data-src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/All-the-Times-the-SATC-Revival-And-Just-Like-That-Has-Mentioned-Samantha-Jones-So-Far.jpg\"><\/p>\n<h3>All the Times the \u2018SATC\u2019 Revival \u2018And Just Like That\u2019 Has Mentioned Samantha Jon&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>Since <em>Sex and the City<\/em> premiered in 1998, the series has focused on Carrie and her journey to find love in New York alongside her friends Charlotte (<strong>Kristin Davis<\/strong>), Miranda Hobbes (<strong>Cynthia Nixon<\/strong>) and Samantha. After six seasons on HBO and two movies, Cattrall\u00a0was noticeably not included in the Max revival series.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, what is there to say? I told her that, you know, because of what the book business is now, it just didn\u2019t make sense for me to keep her on as a publicist,\u201d Parker\u2019s character Carrie explained during season 1 of the show. \u201cShe said, \u2018Fine,\u2019 and then fired me as a friend. I understand that she was upset, but I thought I was more to her than an ATM. I always thought the four of us would be friends forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fictional former friends got back in touch through text during the season 1 finale, which aired in February 2022. Cattrall, for her part, maintained that she wasn\u2019t interested in coming back to play Samantha again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe series is basically the third movie. That\u2019s how creative it was,\u201d she told <em>Variety<\/em> in 2022. \u201cI was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did \u2014 on social media.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before her surprising cameo, Cattrall hinted at an offscreen feud in 2018 when she called Parker, 58, \u201ccruel\u201d following the death of her brother. Parker, for her part, said she was surprised by her former costar\u2019s public comments.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/us-weekly\/assets\/img\/placeholders\/default-usweekly.svg\" data-src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Everything-the-\u2018Sex-and-the-City-Cast-and-Crew-Have-Said-About-Kim-Cattralls-Absence-in-the-Revival.jpg\"><\/p>\n<h3>Everything the \u2018SATC\u2019 Cast, Crew Said About Kim Cattrall\u2019s &#8216;AJLT&#8217; Absence<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very hard to talk about the situation with Kim because I\u2019ve been so careful about not ever wanting to say anything that is unpleasant,\u201d she explained on the \u201cAwards Chatter\u201d podcast in June 2022. \u201cThere has been one person talking. \u2026 I\u2019ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set, to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I\u2019m responsible for as a producer of the show. And there just isn\u2019t anyone else who\u2019s ever talked about me this way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3320111 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/How-Kim-Cattrall-Reprised-Her-Role-as-Samantha-Jones-in-Season-2-of-Sex-inline.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Showrunner Michael Patrick King also addressed how the divide between Cattrall and Parker inspired the onscreen story for <em>And Just Like That.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/us-weekly\/assets\/img\/placeholders\/default-usweekly.svg\" data-src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/kim-and-sjp-feud.jpg\"><\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Sex and the City\u2019 Drama Through the Years: A Timeline<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t want to pretend that there was an absence \u2014 or wasn\u2019t an absence. I wanted to reflect the reality of the fact that there was one not joining. Story wise, I came up with the idea that Samantha\u2019s in London because we didn\u2019t want to kill her. We love Samantha. That\u2019s ridiculous,\u201d he exclusively told <em>Us Weekly<\/em> in December 2021. \u201cAnd life goes on when friendships break up over incidental things that become bigger things. What happens when a friend[ship] breaks up?
