MEGHAN Markle has been spotted without her engagement ring, leading many to wonder where it had gone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But a source has revealed there's a very good reason the Duchess of Sussex hasn't been wearing her redesigned diamond band.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

Prince Harry got down on one knee to propose to Meghan, 42, back in November 2017 with three diamond stones from his mother, Princess Diana's own collection, set on a yellow gold band.<\/p>\n

However, the ring in question has been missing from Meghan's finger recently.<\/p>\n

According to an unnamed source, the band of the ring is currently being fixed. <\/p>\n

The original ring roughly cost Harry, 38, a staggering \u00a3120,000 to create with the help of British jewellers Cleave and Company.<\/p>\n

The central diamond was sourced from Botswana, where the pair had their second date.<\/p>\n

While it is claimed the ring is off for repairs, it isn't the first time Meghan has had her ring changed.<\/p>\n

In 2019, the ring was redesigned, instead of a gold band, the ring most recently sported by the Duchess featured a micro pav\u00e9 band filled with smaller diamonds.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Zach Stone, managing director at Steven Stone Jewellers estimates the central cushion cut diamond sourced from Botswana to be around 3 to 4 carats.<\/p>\n

He added that the two round diamonds supporting the centre stone, from Princess Diana\u2019s jewellery collection, are around 0.5 to 0.75 carats each.<\/p>\n

At the time of their engagement, Prince Harry said: 'The ring is obviously yellow gold because that's [Meghan's] favourite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewellery collection, to make sure that she's with us on this crazy journey together.'\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meghan explained: "'Everything about Harry's thoughtfulness and the inclusion of [Princess Diana's stones] and obviously not being able to meet his mom, it's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us."<\/p>\n

Eagle-eyed fans spotted Meghan missing her ring after she shared a snap on Instagram earlier this month.<\/p>\n

She posed for a selfie with author Cleo Wade and celeb hairdresser Kadi Lee while out for lunch in California to celebrate her birthday.<\/p>\n

The Duchess also chose not to wear her engagement ring for a number of public engagements back in 2019 while pregnant with her son Archie.<\/p>\n

When she appeared at Trooping the Colour that year, it emerged the Duchess had altered the custom-made engagement ring that Prince Harry designed for her. <\/p>\n

The band was changed to a micro pav\u00e8 band with smaller diamonds going around the band to emphasise the three original diamonds.<\/p>\n

The couple recently revealed new details of Meghan's key role in the Invictus Games being hosted in Germany next month.<\/p>\n
