Belgian Prince Amedeo and his Italian aristocrat wife Elisabetta Maria Rosboch von Wolkenstein have welcomed their third child into the world.<\/p>\n
The royals are ‘delighted’ to reveal the birth of their baby girl, Alix Archduchess of Austria-Este, The Belgian Royal Palace\u00a0announced.<\/p>\n
Amedeo, 38, and 36-year-old ‘Lili’, as she prefers to be known, wed in Rome in July 2014 in an elegant, intimate ceremony at The Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere.<\/p>\n
But in gaining a wife the romantic Belgian prince lost his right of succession to the throne.<\/p>\n
Amedeo was sixth in line, but by failing to obtain a royal decree for the marriage from his uncle King Phillipe he has given up his place, as confirmed by the palace\u00a0 in 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alix was born on Saturday 2 September in Belgium\u2019s capital city, Brussels, and she tipped the scales at 3.4kg.<\/p>\n
The newborn was said to be ‘doing well’ alongside mother-of-three, Princess Elisabetta, 35.<\/p>\n
The families of both Prince Amedeo and Princess Elisabetta have reportedly joined in on the celebrations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Palace shared information of the happy news to Twitter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The post read: ‘Prince Amedeo and Princess Elisabetta are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter Alix, born on Saturday September 2 in Brussels.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Alix weighs 3.4 kg and is doing well, just like her mother.<\/p>\n
‘The families of the happy parents join in this great happiness.’<\/p>\n
Amedeo and ‘Lili’ already have two other children together,\u00a0Anna Astrid Marie of Austria-Este, 7,\u00a0Archduke Maximilian Joseph of Austria-Este, 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In 2015,\u00a0palace sources claimed it was a deliberate move to give up his right to the throne so that he could live an independent life with wife Lili, free of any official role.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Instead of Princess of Belgium, she is known as the Archduchess of Austria and Princess of Hungary, titles that pass to her via the prince’s father Lorenz, the Archduke of Austria-Este.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Prince Amedeo (right) and Princess Elisabetta (left) have two other children together, Anna Astrid Marie of Austria-Este, 7, Archduke Maximilian Joseph of Austria-Este, 4\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The couple who have been dubbed the William and Kate of Belgium, married in Rome in July 2014 at The Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere<\/p>\n Amedeo is the eldest grandchild of the abdicated King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium and the son of the sister of King Philippe, who ascended the throne following the abdication of King Albert II.<\/p>\n The couple, who have been dubbed the William and Kate of Belgium, wed\u00a0in Rome in July 2014 in an elegant, intimate ceremony at The Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere.<\/span><\/p>\n Although he attended the wedding, King Philippe had not expressly given his permission for the union, and the marriage had not been officially gazetted in the Moniteur Belge with a decree giving ‘dynastic authorisation.’<\/p>\n The wedding itself was a family affair, with Prince Amedeo’s grandparents – King Albert II and Queen Paola – and aunt and uncle – King Philippe and Queen Mathilde – all in attendance.<\/p>\n Lili, who arrived at the ceremony with her father Ettore Rosboch von Wolkenstein, wore a sweeping white wedding gown complete with veil and tiara and natural, dewy make-up.<\/p>\n The couple, who spend much of their time in New York, had been dating for around seven years before they became engaged and the news was officially announced in February 2014, shortly after the couple were blessed by the Pope at the Vatican alongside hundreds of other engaged couples.<\/p>\n Lili is a former journalist who comes from an aristocratic family.<\/p>\n She studied in literature and film at Queen Mary University in London before moving to New York where she worked as an arts and culture correspondent for Bloomberg.<\/p>\n Her husband studied at the London School of Economics and also relocated to New York, where he took up a position as an analyst for Deloitte.<\/p>\n
