Life on the UK's "worst" street is far from rosy with the needle and faeces strewn avenue used "like a toilet".

Fuming locals are hitting out at the alleyway near Zion Gardens in Brighton, which has so far seen drug use and defecation in horrifying quantities.

Beata Betty, 38, is calling for local councillors and police officers to knuckle down on the horrid behaviour, which has left the area a "complete nightmare".

Brighton and Hove Council are yet to publicly comment on the street, though Beata has described the alleyway as "like a toilet" and referred to it as one of the worst in the area.

Speaking to the Brighton Argus, Beata said: "It's a complete nightmare, I think it’s the worst alleyway in Brighton. My children see this every day, it’s happening all the time. The alleyway is like a toilet.

"There's drug addicts and crackheads there every day. My children play in this area and they do it in front of them."

Trouble in the area could be no match for a Manchester town where no one seems to "give a f***" as one resident complained, with gangs on the rise in the once quiet market town.

The Daily Star previously reported the rise in crime and lull in care for Hyde in Manchester, with stallholders furious at the state of the place.

Locals claim police are simply "not bothered" by the rise in gang interactions, with baseball bat-wielding thugs wandering the streets and picking on potential shoppers.

It has left some in the area desperate to sell up and move on, even if that means taking a major financial blow.

Stallholder Umair Hussain said of the area: "No one gives a f*** around here. I told police and all they did was give me a reference number. Nobody turned up."

Fellow stallholder and veteran of the area Beryl Clark claimed the rise in gangs and violent behaviour was from kids having nothing to do "other than get into trouble."

The Daily Star has contacted Brighton and Hove council for comment.
